How it works, step by step

  1. Open the Recorder app, long-press the recording and choose Share → save to Drive, Files or send it to yourself; or open it from the "Recordings" folder with Files.
  2. Go to trascrivo.com in your phone browser (Chrome is fine) and upload the file.
  3. Pick the language, press Transcribe and copy the text, or download it as TXT.

Formats: m4a yes, amr and 3gp no

Modern apps (Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, OnePlus) record in .m4a, which TraScrivo reads directly. If your phone saves .amr or .3gp (very old apps), change the format in the app settings or convert to mp3 before uploading.

Lectures and meetings recorded with a phone

Put the phone on a flat surface near the speaker, away from fans and open windows; in a large room move it closer to the person talking. Long recordings are split and transcribed in full: the timestamps take you to the right spot without replaying everything.
