Free audio transcription with no sign-up: what really changes

How it works, step by step

1. Look at the free minutes: many services give 10–30 a month, then you pay. TraScrivo has no minute counter: the only limit is a daily cap on requests to prevent abuse.
2. Look at what happens to files: if a service keeps them in your account, they sit on a server. TraScrivo deletes them right after transcription.
3. Look at the model: quality depends on the engine. TraScrivo uses Whisper large-v3, the same model behind the best-known paid services.

How it can be free

TraScrivo is a project by Giraffa Consulting supported by two sponsors (the banners you see) and by users' coffees. Servers cost a few dozen euros a month, the transcription engine is paid per use: as long as traffic stays sustainable, the service stays free and account-free.

What TraScrivo does not do (yet)

It does not tell speakers apart, translate, summarise or store transcripts: if you close the page, copy the text first. For work that needs collaborative editing, speaker labels or an archive, a paid service can make sense. To turn a file into text, TraScrivo is enough.
