How it works, step by step

  1. Open Voice Memos, select the recording, tap the three dots then "Share" → "Save to Files" (or AirDrop it to your Mac).
  2. Go to trascrivo.com on your phone or computer and upload the .m4a file.
  3. Pick the language and press Transcribe: in seconds you have timestamped text to paste into Notes or download as TXT.

.m4a is the right format

Voice Memos uses .m4a (AAC), light and good quality: TraScrivo accepts it directly. If you enabled lossless recording the file is larger but works just the same. No need to convert to mp3.

Recording so it transcribes well

Keep the iPhone within a metre of the speaker, microphone towards the voice; turn on "Enhance Recording" (the wand icon) to cut background noise. Long recordings? No problem: even a two-hour lecture is transcribed in full.

Does it work with Apple Watch and iPad memos?

Yes: they sync to the iPhone in the same .m4a format.

Can I upload straight from the phone?
